The USB 2.0 to SATA adaptor is unique in that it features both 7 and 15 pin (data/power) interfaces within the same direct connect housing. Essentially, the adaptor plugs direct into the SATA drive. The 15cm device is compliant with both SATA I and SATA II drives.

The three port AS1200 USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE combo adaptor allows users to access IDE or SATA (serial ATA) hard drives - over a straightforward USB 2.0 to PC connection. The user can keep the existing IDE drive while at the same time connect new SATA technology (providing transfer speeds of up to 150 Mbps). Further, both 3.5" (using a converter) and 2.5" types of IDE drives are supported.

By connecting the USB 2.0 interface on this device to a PC or Mac and then the IDE connection to a portable hard drive gives a computer immediate, additional storage. The unit is backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices and is of Plug and Play design with both Windows and Mac compatibility.

The small compact adaptor allows a new high speed eSATA drive to be connected to a PC or Mac via a USB port. Conforming with current SATA specifictions there is the option for use of a external PSU to ensure optimum performance during operation.
